A lovely copy of this early etiquette book in full green/tan calf elegantly bordered with blind decoration and devices to boards, board edges and spine. Raised bands and a gilt-lettered and decorated black title-label entitled 'Politeness' to spine. Bookplate of Peter Stewart Young of Tillingham to corner of front endpapers. Black & red title-page, which is darkened and has a few small stains. Decorated to the interior with headpieces, devices, initials and section headers. A well-preserved copy with light markings as usual. A number of short sections on topics from certain values, virtues and vices such as friendship, love, devotion, friendship as well as guidance on how to act in certain situations as talking before servants, mimicking people, behaviour towards rude people etc. 19.5cm tall.
